Why train?
Training is important to maintain and improve a hotel/resort’s or any business position in an increasingly competitive market. Training also prepares new staff or trainees to perform required tasks according to international standards.
After training, the gaps between actual and desired levels of performance will decrease. Training increases staff confidence to perform well and enables them to more easily accept changes in policies, tasks, procedures, and standards in the operation.
Targeted training generates profits for your business as staff turnover rates are lower, staff are more productive and guest satisfaction is higher which creates returning customers for your business, services and facilities.
One of the most frequently advanced reasons for not training is that once trained, the employee will leave. After all, does it make sense to spend hundreds or thousands of dollars training an employee who may leave anyway? Recognize that the employee was looking for a job when they found your company and accept that they will not stop looking because they found you. Hard to accept, but true.
